Students will weave with willow that Marlys raises and make a rib style basket that is shaped a lot like an
Oriole’s nest. There will be different kinds of willow and some dogwood to weave with. A long leather strap is attached after weaving is completed.
Basket is approx. 12-14” around and 6-8” across.

Diane Ericson had designed this plaid bowl when she attended the 2010 Cabin Fever Weavin’. Students will taper dyed red, dyed black, and natural reed staves and insert into dyed black hardwood base. Weavers are dyed black, dyed red, and natural hamburg cane. Weave your own pattern over the 7” mold, or the pattern that Diane had designed (pictured here). The rim is also dyed black. Choose Either -Double Wall Tote Basket or Small Double Wall Market Basket
8 hour class (8:30-5:30)
Students will begin this large double wall tote with herringbone twill base, upset half of the spokes to weave the inside wall of the basket, upset the remaining spokes and weave the outside wall. The outside wall features triple twining and chase weaving. Learn how to connect the walls at the rim and add sturdy leather handles. Slower weavers may not finish during class time. Hand strength is required. Approx. size: Base 3” x 12”; Top 7” x 12”; Height 14” (plus handles) Weave Level: Intermediate/Advanced

6 hour class (8:30-3:30)
Students will weave a herringbone twill base, then split each spoke in two to form the inner and outer walls. The outside wall features twining and triple twining with natural and dyed reed. A notched handle is added just before rimming. Approx. size at Top: 9”x10” x 5”H (plus handle) Weave Level: Intermediate
